We maybe have been drunk by the time this picture was taken.
Absolutely outstanding time on Saturday banging with Team New England. We were a man down, and Joe was sorely missed, but we were still able to conquer all of the boxes Team Richmond sent us. There was a lot of big beer and a lot of barrel aged beers with an average ABV of about 10% for all the beers of the day. Both Team New England and my rape-stache were ready to tackle this though. Thankfully there were some IPAs and sours to mix things up a bit. Like our packing party, we holed up in the private room at The Bier Abbey owned by George, BA gpcollen1.
While waiting for George to show we sipped on the Alpine Nelson growler while opening up the swag boxes filled with shirts, key chains, stickers and sweets.
The chocolate covered Peanut Brittle was killer.
The first of many waves of food from the kitchen at The Bier Abbey.
All piled up like this the task definitely seemed daunting, especially given how many big beers were here.
And of course there was Penis Cake. There’s always Penis Cake.
We took turns choosing which beer to open first. I decided to kick the day of right with a big ass bottle of Surly Syx. This was a boozy bastard that really set the tone for the day.
Bourbon Speedway Stout was one of the standout beers of the day.
As was Lindley Park. Perfect amount of raspberries and honey without being overly sweet.
Speaking of overly sweet, this was my first time with Melange 3. I liked it but if I had to compare it to one of their other big beers, Fruet, I’d say I prefer the latter.
CCB BA Big Sound was absolutely outstanding. I’ve only had it before on tap at the Brewery the week after last year’s Hunahpu Day but this latest batch is drinking just as good.
Have I mention on here before I’m a Cigar City fan boy? Loved this one as well, and missed out on it when it was released. Glad to have tried it.
Little pre-Dark Lord fried chicken, wings and fries for dinner.
2012 Dark Lord. Definitely appreciate RVA sending this one. Lot of sweetness and umami in this. Too much so for me.
I call this one “Deep Thoughts with George Collentine.”
About half way done at this point. Dinner definitely slowed us down.
Nice to do these side-by-side. The bourbon definitely cuts a lot of the spice from regular GBS. Not a huge fan of spiced beers but I can’t think of anything that represents Christmas better than these two.
My first time with Arctic Panzer Wolf. I still feel Dreadnaught takes the win here but this is still a great IPA that was much needed to break up some of these stouts.
I swear the cops showing up in full force had nothing to do with us.
Duck pastrami anyone?
Good beer. Even better name.
Um…
Dino had the bright idea to “pour one out for our homies” for each of the beers into a pitcher and then drink a glass at the end of the night (I believe Team RVA did this as well). We called it “Grand Cru by Gang Bang BIF #3” which sadly has already been removed from Untappd. Haters gon’ hate!
George and the crew from The Bier Abbey keeping us stocked up on food, water and glasses all night. Thanks! (Crappy pic but it’s all I have of them.)
The Dead Soldiers.
What an awesome time. I can’t thank Team Richmond enough for sending us such a killer set of boxes. Already looking forward to the Gang Bang BIF #4 with a little barbecuing and Kan Jam in the mix. See you in the summer everyone!
Damn, looked like a blast Fuj…thanks again for the last minute invite. Really sorry I couldn’t make it.
No prob my man. You should get involved with Round 4.
Absolutely. Keep me in the loop.
