Last night marked the first dinner that Vic, Heather and their team at Peck’s have hosted since the opening of the restaurant back in January. Now that things are settling in at Peck’s it affords them the opportunity to follow up with what used to be their regular Sunday Supper events that have since been on hiatus. (While I never had the opportunity to check one of those out, I was able to make it to their dinner with Grimm Artisanal Ales.) This was an amazing dinner with some really interesting wines I’ve never experienced before. In an effort to share these photos with you before I head out of town this week, I’ll be keeping the commentary to a minimum.
A sparkling white to start the meal
fluke crudo | lardo, squid ink, peas
2013 Istituto Agrario San Michele
lobster | morels, asparagus, burrata
ramp chitarra | snails, speck, chiles
rabbit porchetta | cabbage, pistachio, cippolini
lamb | olives, mostarda, potato
la tur cheese | pine syrup, nuts, olive oil, beet
panna cotta | sbrisolona, almond, apple
This was my first wine pairing dinner. It was definitely a different experience than the more lax beer dinners I’m accustomed to, but something I’d like to do more of in the future to gain some knowledge about wines I admittedly am just beginning to learn about. They were extremely approachable and I was glad to be able to experience them in a setting I wouldn’t normally be able to. The dishes were unique and seasonal with a gentle nod to the Italian dishes and techniques from which they were inspired, while pairing with their respective wines beautifully.
A huge thank you to Vic and Heather, Chefs Nick and Matt and the rest of the Peck’s team for putting together such an amazing dinner, you guys killed it as always.
